What is Spinning babies?
The name is somewhat misleading as there is no “baby spinning” as the name suggests.

It is actually about making suitable space in the pelvis to allow the baby to position themselves in a more optimal position for birth.
This is done via exercise and body work to the pelvis. There is no touch or spin to your growing baby.

These techniques can be useful for a breech, posterior or transverse positioned baby or any other combinations which potentially may make vaginal birth more challenging.

Internal vaginal pelvic floor examinations and treatments can be also used as indicated. The pelvis needs to open for the baby to rotate down into the pelvis for birth.

Our modern lifestyles sees most pregnant mothers doing much less daily movement with many doing large hours of sedentary work.

Many women are working longer hours and too tired to exercise regularly.
This in turn creates stiffness and muscular tension in the spine, pelvis and hips.

The internal pelvic bowl of muscles (pelvic floor) and connective tissues can also hold excessive stiffness and tension which may impact on the baby's positioning and birthing.

Past trauma, fear about birth, pelvic pain can be some reasons why the pelvic floor and its associated tissues hold imbalance and abnormal tension.

Daily regular exercise specific to your pelvis is beneficial for the optimal positioning of the baby. This can benefit both the mother and the baby, aiming to minimize intervention during birth and help protect the mothers pelvic floor.
